What is MCP and why it matters

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants securely connect to external tools and data sources. Instead of the assistant guessing from stale training data, an MCP server gives it a live, structured connection to real systems. The AlgoTradingAI MCP server exposes your own trading data to the assistant, so answers are grounded in your actual watchlists and signals rather than generic market commentary.

  • Open standard supported by Claude and a growing set of AI clients
  • Live data connection instead of guesswork
  • Grounded, account-specific answers

What the AlgoTradingAI MCP server exposes

The server publishes a focused set of read tools that map to the parts of the product traders use most. Once connected, your assistant can call these tools on your behalf to pull current data and reason over it in the conversation.

  • Watchlists: view symbols you are tracking and their latest state
  • Trade signals: live and closed signals with performance context
  • Forecasts: multi-horizon price forecasts with confidence bands
  • Advisory consensus: the AI advisor's analysis for a symbol

How it works end to end

You generate a scoped access token from your AlgoTradingAI account and add the MCP server to your AI client's configuration. When you ask a question, the assistant selects the right tool, calls the server with your token, and the server returns live data scoped to your account and active broker. The assistant then explains the result in plain language. Nothing runs without your token, and the connection is read-oriented so it surfaces information rather than placing trades.

The MCP server is read-oriented: it helps you review signals, watchlists, and forecasts. It does not auto-execute trades on your behalf.
  • Generate a scoped MCP token from your account
  • Add the server to Claude Desktop or a compatible client
  • Ask questions in natural language and get grounded answers
  • Tokens are scoped to your account and active broker

Example questions you can ask

The point of MCP is to remove friction from your daily review. Instead of opening multiple screens, you can ask the assistant to summarize what matters and follow up conversationally.

  • What are the live signals on my watchlist right now?
  • Summarize the advisory consensus for RELIANCE.
  • Which of my tracked symbols has the strongest 1-day forecast?
  • How did my closed signals perform this week?

Availability: Pro Plan

The MCP server is included with the AlgoTradingAI Pro Plan. If you are on the Pro Plan you can generate an MCP token and connect an assistant today. If you are on a lower tier, upgrading to Pro unlocks MCP access along with the rest of the Pro feature set.

FAQ

What is the AlgoTradingAI MCP server?

It is a Model Context Protocol server that lets AI assistants like Claude connect directly to your AlgoTradingAI account and answer questions about your watchlists, signals, forecasts, and advisory consensus using live data.

Which AI assistants can I use with it?

Any MCP-compatible client works. Claude Desktop is the primary supported client, and other assistants that speak the Model Context Protocol can connect the same way using your token.

Does the MCP server place trades automatically?

No. The server is read-oriented. It surfaces your signals, watchlists, forecasts, and advisory consensus so you can review them, but it does not auto-execute trades on your behalf.

Is the connection secure?

Yes. You generate a scoped access token tied to your account and active broker, and the assistant must use that token to call the server. You can revoke the token at any time.

Which plan includes the MCP server?

The MCP server is included with the Pro Plan. Upgrading to Pro unlocks MCP access so you can connect your AI assistant to your trading data.
